There is something about July…. long summer days and warm summer nights. We kicked off the long first weekend of July celebrating the 4th. We were on Balboa Island where we made hot dogs, rode bikes, baked and spent plenty of time at the beach. We love the switch in seasonal moods, but especially this one.
We’re so lucky to live so close to the beach that we can feel the morning sea breeze and enjoy the sound of the waves when we feel like it. The long beach days always make me want to visit the East Coast for a Americana Summer. We’ve been a few times long ago and hope to get back one day, but in the meantime, what we’ve gravitating toward this month feels very reminiscent of those old school Americana vibes this month…
Plenty of white summer layers from bedding to beach to linen and sweaters. Al fresco dinners in the garden, fresh cut grass and an abundance of vintage rattan. Crisp button ups, buttoned down over swimsuits. Plenty of time in or near the sea. Reapplying sunscreen and collecting shells at every beach visit. Summer produce and simple salads from our own garden. Homemade strawberry ice cream and watermelon lime/ mint popsicles. Saturday rides to the farmers market.
Rich neutrals that pop against a bold pop of color but compliment quality craftsmanship. Open windows and an ocean breeze, spending as much time outdoors as possible and running to the ocean after every workday. Nothing beats a hot dog and a s’more during these months.
